Senior Prom

April 26th, 2009 admin No comments

Last night marked the zenith of my high school experience: it was senior prom.

Actually, it was rather mediocre. Not bad, but simply acceptable. Main complaint: music. Perhaps they didn’t know that music before this current millennium exists. Also, Womanizer is NOT good dancing music. Other complaint: high school students do not know how to dance, and grinding does not qualify as dance. The products of mainstream society…

On the other hand, my date looked rather beautiful, as she usually does. I actually stopped at the Ralphs on the way to her house to pick up a bouquet of flowers, pink roses to be exact, to add to my white rose corsage.

Was senior prom worth the almost $400 dollars spent? I doubt it, but it’s the quintessential high school experience, and it only happens once. Unless you’re a teacher…

Senioritis

Six weeks from graduation, I find myself without the motivation to continue doing homework. Worse, I realized yesterday that my first AP test begins in two weeks, and I have not begun studying for any of my six, i.e. see that I am blogging rather than studying.

I actually created a schedule to help me figure out my studying schedule, but I’m probably not going to be able to follow it, givne that I have to continue doing homework, and learning massive amounts of Physics…

Woot for my life….

College Visits

April 14th, 2009 admin No comments

April 9-12th, I visited Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. My thoughts: Harvard is the most lively, as the town of Cambridge runs through and around the campus. Yale is in the middle, with some city life but still relatively peaceful. Princeton is the most beautiful, and extremely quiet, seeing as it’s in the middle of a suburb. If only the aesthetics of the campus factored into my decision.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, I spent my time in New York City. Pretty awesome - it was a very lively place, and all the subways ran exactly on time. Met a couple of friends there - even more awesome. Thanks Qdoba also.

A few things I noticed about the East Coast, compared to Southern California:

1) More Dunkin’ Donuts

2) Fewer fast food restaurants, especially Wendy’s, Carl’s Jr., etc.

3) Different racial/ethnic compositions and diversity

4) Cold

5) Different accents - I was clearly picked out as Californian

6) Cold

Overall, fun trip.

Campbell’s Select Harvest Mexican Style Chicken Tortilla Soup: Review

April 8th, 2009 admin No comments

Keeping in mind that these scores are calibrated for canned soup:

Taste: 3.5/5

Health: 3/5

Value: 3/5

Overall: 3.3/5

Verdict Recommended

Something really easy when you don’t want to cook, canned soup is also something that warms the soul. Well the stomach, at easy, and perhaps the soul of corporate America, if that isn’t contradictory. In this “Mexican Style Chicken Tortilla,” there’s a bit of chicken, some rice, corn, beans, etc., along with a slight taste of spice. Altogether not too shabby for a Wednesday morning breakfast during spring break, considering the 1 minute of cooking required.
